Head of Pool Operations

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Head of Pool Operations to oversee the daily operation, maintenance, safety, and guest experience of the swimming pool and wellness water facilities within a luxury hospitality environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all pools, water features, and related facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency. This role combines technical pool management, water quality control, guest service oversight, and health & safety responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Pool Operations & Water Quality Management
- Monitor and maintain all swimming pools, whirlpools, and water facilities across the property.
- Conduct daily water testing and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Monitor and record key water quality indicators, including pH levels, chlorine levels, water balance, and filtration performance.
- Ensure all pool plant equipment, pumps, filtration systems, dosing systems, and water treatment equipment operate efficiently.
- Identify and resolve technical issues relating to water quality, circulation systems, and pool equipment.
Health, Safety & Security
- Ensure all pool and wellness facilities operate in accordance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of pool areas and surrounding facilities.
- Monitor guest safety and respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies.
- Ensure safety signage, emergency equipment, and operational procedures are always up to date.
- Work closely with Engineering and Operations teams to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.
Pool Maintenance & Cleaning
- Oversee the cleanliness and presentation of all pools and surrounding guest areas.
- Perform or coordinate routine cleaning, maintenance, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Ensure pool decks, changing areas, and wellness facilities are maintained to luxury hospitality standards.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance requirements with the Engineering Department.
Guest Experience
- Ensure guests receive a safe, enjoyable, and high-quality pool experience.
- Monitor service standards within the pool and wellness areas.
- Assist guests professionally and respond to enquiries or concerns promptly.
- Work closely with Spa, Wellness, and Operations teams to deliver exceptional guest satisfaction.
Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of water tests, maintenance activities, inspections, and incidents.
- Prepare reports on pool operations, water quality, and equipment performance.
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations, health standards, and company procedures.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience managing swimming pool operations, aquatic facilities, wellness centres, hotel pools, water parks, or spa facilities.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Pool water chemistry
- Water testing procedures
- pH and chlorine management
- Filtration systems
- Pumps and dosing systems
- Pool plant operations
- Health and safety regulations
- Experience maintaining luxury hospitality, wellness, or leisure facilities preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest safety.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of pool operations.
- Practical, hands-on approach to maintenance and problem-solving.
- Flexible and reliable with a strong service mindset.
Language Requirements
- Fluent German (essential)
