Als Mechanical Project Engineer verantworten Sie den mechanischen Scope unserer Enduron Stirred Mill Projekte – von Konstruktion und Spezifikation bis zur Umsetzung.
Sie sind die zentrale Schnittstelle zwischen Engineering, Projektmanagement und Umsetzung.
Unsere Mühlen werden weltweit in großen Industrieanlagen eingesetzt, um Rohmaterialien fein zu mahlen – ein zentraler Schritt, um Metalle wie Kupfer oder Gold überhaupt nutzbar zu machen. Sie arbeiten somit an Technologien, die eine Schlüsselrolle für die globale Rohstoffversorgung und Energiewende spielen.

Ihre Aufgaben
Mechanical Engineering
- Definition und Auslegung von Maschinenkomponenten und Baugruppen
- Erstellung von technischen Spezifikationen und Designanforderungen
- Sicherstellung von Normkonformität und technischer Qualität
Projektumsetzung
- Verantwortung für mechanische Deliverables im Projekt
- Tracking von Fortschritt, Terminen und Kosten
Dokumentation
- Erstellung von Datenpaketen, Zeichnungen und technischen Unterlagen
- Pflege von Engineering-Dokumentation
Integration & Schnittstellen
- Abstimmung mit EC&I, Prozess- und Projektteams
- Sicherstellung der Integration ins Gesamtsystem

Kenntnisse, Ausbildung und Qualifikationen
- Studium Maschinenbau oder vergleichbar ETH, FH, HF, TS.
- 1–7 Jahre Erfahrung im Engineering
- Verständnis von Konstruktion und Fertigung
- Erfahrung mit CAD/PLM von Vorteil
- Gute Englischkenntnisse

Project Engineer Mechanical (m/f/d)
As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you are responsible for the mechanical scope of our Enduron Stirred Mill projects, from design and specification through to implementation.
You act as the key interface between engineering, project management, and execution.
Our mills are used worldwide in large industrial plants to finely grind raw materials—a critical step in making metals such as copper or gold usable. In this role, you will contribute to technologies that play a key role in global resource supply and the energy transition.

Knowledge, Education and Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (e.g., ETH, FH, HF, TS)

1–7 years of experience in engineering

Understanding of design and manufacturing

Experience with CAD/PLM is an advantage

Purpose of Role:
The Project Engineer acts as the first point of contact for the mechanical scope on Enduron Vertical Stirred Mill execution projects, from engineering through to project delivery. This role ensures that all mechanical deliverables are technically sound, compliant with applicable standards, and delivered on time in coordination with the electrical and process engineering disciplines.
The Project Engineer acts as a key interface between the project management function and the engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, process), ensuring that customer-specific requirements are accurately translated into actionable engineering work packages and that project deliverables are tracked and completed on time. This role requires a structured approach to coordinating across multiple internal teams and external stakeholders, defining mechanical specifications, and ensuring that the mechanical as well the overall mill design meets both Weir standards and customer-specific requirements. This is a growth position for a technically educated professional who is newer to the stirred mill industry and will be built-up through hands-on project involvement and mentoring. The role operates within established Weir engineering procedures and standards but requires professional judgement and discretion to resolve technical issues, adapt solutions to project-specific circumstances, and balance quality, cost, and schedule constraints.
By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Project Engineer will play a key role in strengthening Weir’s project execution capability and to the required quality and safety standards for the Enduron Vertical Stirred Mill product line.

Core Responsibilities:

Project Execution: Own the mechanical engineering scope on execution projects from order intake through to project delivery. Define the mechanical work breakdown structure, track deliverables, and ensure alignment with the overall project plan and delivery milestones. Work within agreed project budgets and cost targets, monitoring expenditure against milestones and flagging deviations.

Engineering Specification & Coordination: Define and review specifications for the mill equipment and ensure compliance with standards and customer specifications. Translate and execute project requirements into engineering work packages.

Documentation: Prepare and maintain project documentation including data packs, engineering change notices, specifications, and O&M manuals.

Technical Reviews: Participate in design reviews and risk assessments. Identify risks and execute mitigation strategies.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the electrical and process engineering team, Project manager and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of the mechanical scope within the overall mill system delivery.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve project execution processes, procedures, checklists and tools.

Education & Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline e.g. HF, Technical school)

1-4 years of experience in an engineering or project engineering role (mining, heavy industry, rotating equipment, or manufacturing preferred but not mandatory)

Good understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation

Familiarity with PLM systems (NX Teamcenter preferred) and project scheduling tools (MS Project) is an advantage
