Job Summary
The Laboratory Specialist, Tech Ops supports day‑to‑day laboratory operations and technical activities that enable development, characterization, optimization, and lifecycle management of therapeutic products and associated processes. The role performs routine and moderately complex laboratory tasks, generates high‑quality data, and ensures that all work is conducted in alignment with established procedures, quality standards, and regulatory expectations.
The incumbent applies foundational scientific knowledge and practical laboratory skills to contribute to experimental execution, equipment operation, data documentation, and troubleshooting under guidance from more senior colleagues. The role collaborates within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) and with cross‑functional partners to ensure reliable laboratory operations and support program objectives across early development, late‑stage readiness, and commercial support activities.
Operating within a matrix environment, the Laboratory Specialist maintains a safe and compliant laboratory, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and contributes to day‑to‑day technical execution that enables robust product and process understanding.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory work, including sample preparation, execution of test methods or experimental tasks, and operation of laboratory equipment according to established procedures.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and contemporaneous documentation of all laboratory activities in Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) systems and other electronic data‑capture tools, maintaining full compliance with data‑integrity and documentation standards.
- Support basic troubleshooting of laboratory methods, equipment, and workflows under the direction of senior team members.
- Contribute to accurate and reliable data generation; perform preliminary data checks and communicate observations to supervisors or project leads.
- Participate in deviations, investigations, and change control inputs by providing factual information, supporting documentation, and technical observations
- Collaborate within the IPT and across Tech Ops functions to support development, technology transfer, operational execution, and lifecycle management activities.
- Uphold safety standards, ensuring adherence to EHS policies, proper handling of materials, and compliance with training requirements
- Identify opportunities for improving workflows, documentation, and operational efficiency within the laboratory.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or technical discipline (e.g., biotechnology, biochemistry, engineering, life sciences) or equivalent practical laboratory experience.
- Up to 2 years of laboratory experience gained through industry, academia, internships, or practical coursework.
- Awareness of laboratory safety standards, basic scientific principles, and good documentation practices.
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and techniques (e.g., pH measurement, pipetting, centrifugation, chromatography).
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to quality.
- Ability to learn new laboratory methods quickly and work effectively under moderate supervision.
- Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate within teams.
- Demonstrated motivation to contribute to continuous improvement and laboratory excellence.
