At Zurich Instruments, a leader in advanced test and measurement instruments and control electronics for quantum computing, we empower scientists and high-tech companies worldwide to push the boundaries of technology.
As Application Manager Quantum Computing (Research & Scaling), you will own the application strategy and technical-commercial enablement for customers scaling quantum systems from research setups to multi-qubit and system-level architectures. You will ensure that our solutions are positioned, validated, and evolved to support the next generation of quantum computing infrastructures.
- Develop and maintain deep expertise across quantum computing workflows — from experimental research setups (qubit characterisation, algorithm benchmarking, calibration routines) to scaling architectures (multi-qubit control, readout, cryogenic integration, system synchronisation, and scalability bottlenecks).
- Continuously analyse customer needs, technology trends, and competitive solutions across the quantum computing ecosystem, spanning both academic research environments and industry-driven scaling programs.
- Act as the "voice of the quantum computing customer" across both research and scaling segments by providing structured input to Product Management on requirements, feature priorities, roadmap evolution, and solution gaps, while supporting validation concepts and early product-market fit assessments for new developments.
- Train and enable Key Account Managers, Technical Sales, and Application Scientists on quantum computing use cases, value propositions, and application-level and system-level positioning across research and production environments.
- Support key customer engagements, particularly in technically complex or strategically important accounts, and contribute to win strategies for high-impact opportunities across both research institutions and quantum hardware companies.
- Identify complementary products, partner technologies, and ecosystem integrations necessary to deliver complete quantum computing solutions for both research-grade and production-scale environments, ensuring our positioning evolves from instrument-level to workflow-level and system-level value.
- Develop application notes, white papers, webinars, and conference contributions addressing both research and scaling use cases in quantum computing.
- Represent Zurich Instruments in customer workshops, scientific events, and industry forums — including academic conferences and quantum industry summits — to strengthen our positioning as a leading technology partner across the quantum computing journey.
- Strong technical foundation in quantum technologies; advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field — a PhD in an experimentally oriented quantum computing discipline is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of experimental quantum system architectures, covering both research-stage characterisation and scaling challenges.
- Experience in high-tech instrumentation or complex technical solution environments, ideally spanning both academic/research and industry contexts.
- Ability to bridge scientific depth with commercial relevance.
- Strong analytical and structured thinking; capable of translating technical workflows into clear application insights for diverse audiences.
- Experience interacting with leading research institutes, national labs, or quantum hardware companies.
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable training sales teams and engaging with senior technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
We offer a diverse work environment with an open and transparent company culture where personal development forms the basis of our success. We thrive on cooperation and support distributed decision-making that allows everyone to take responsibility and generate substantial impact from the start and on many levels.
Now is a great time to join the team.
