The Senior Drafter is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and governance of technical drawings and documentation related to facilities, utilities, infrastructure, and GMP manufacturing environments.
This role ensures that all types of drawings (layouts, P&IDs, schematics, as-builts, flow and zoning plans as well as technical documentation) are accurate, compliant, and aligned with site and technical standards, regulatory expectations (e.g. Building Code of Bern), and asset lifecycle management. The position plays a critical role in establishing and maintaining drawing management for the site incl.supporting CapEx projects, change controls, shutdowns, and ongoing operations by maintaining a reliable and audit-ready drawing ecosystem.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1 Technical Drafting & Drawing Management · Develop and update 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD (layouts, sections, details, schematics) · Maintain accurate as-built drawings for: o Facilities (buildings, cleanrooms, zones and flows, technical areas) o Utilities (HVAC, WFI, clean steam, compressed air, etc.) o Production support infrastructure · Create and revise PFDs, P&IDs and mechanical schematics · Ensure version control and proper document lifecycle management · Evaluation and/or introduction of Autodesk Vault, Revit, COMOS, Meridian EDMS as future solution
2 GMP & Compliance Documentation · Establish and maintain drawing documentation in compliance with: o GMP and data integrity requirements o Change control processes (CC, deviations, CAPAs) o Audit and inspection readiness standards · Support documentation packages for regulatory inspections and audits · Ensure traceability between drawings, assets, and technical documentation
3 Engineering & Project Support · Support CapEx and investment projects with drafting services or coordination thereof · Translate engineering concepts into precise technical drawings · Update drawings during project execution and close-out (as-built verification) · Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and external design firms · Manage peak-load of drawing needs via preferred supplier abroad (Germany)
4 Site Master Data & Asset Documentation Governance · Maintain the site drawing archive and digital document structure · Ensure alignment between: o SAP/CMMS asset data o Equipment location drawings o Utility schematics o Technical documentation repositories · Standardize drawing templates, layers, symbols, and naming conventions
5 Change Management & As-Built Control · Integrate technical changes from: o Engineering change controls o Maintenance modifications o Shutdown and turnaround activities · Conduct field verification and redlining of drawings · Ensure timely update of as-built documentation after modifications
6 Cross-Functional Collaboration · Act as key interface between: o Engineering & Projects o Maintenance & Utilities o EHS and QA o External contractors and engineering consultants · Support technical clarifications during design reviews and site walks
7 Continuous Improvement & Digitalization · Improve drawing management processes and workflows · Support digital engineering initiatives (e.g., digital twins, document management systems) · Contribute to standardization of engineering documentation practices · Drive efficiency in drafting and document retrieval processes Foster a culture of continuous improvement through cross-functional collaboration, self-development training and challenging the status-quo mentoring while focusing on operational efficiency and the elimination of “non-value added” activities.

Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
Education
- Technical degree, diploma, or certification in Drafting, Engineering Design, Architecture, or a related technical field
- AutoCAD certification (preferred)
Experience
- 7+ years of professional drafting experience using AutoCAD
- Experience in regulated or technical environments (pharma, biotech, life sciences, chemical, or industrial manufacturing)
- Proven experience managing large drawing sets and as-built documentation in complex facilities
- Understanding of cleanroom layouts and classified areas, prefered
- Data integrity and audit trail expectations for technical documentation, prefered
Competencies
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D mandatory, 3D optional)
- Strong understanding of: a) Mechanical and electrical drawings, b) HVAC and utility systems o P&IDs and technical schematics
- Experience with document management systems (DMS/EDMS, e.g. Veeva)
- Familiarity with SAP PM / CMMS (nice to have)
- Full proficiency in SIA/DIN/EN engineering standards, symbols, and drafting norm
