Purpose
The Sailor is part of the nautical team on board of one of the vessels managed and operated by the Rivertech Holding AG and is reporting directly to the Helmsman. The main role of the Sailor is together with the team of max. 4 colleagues ensuring a smooth and safe operation of the stationed ship and responsible for executing various tasks related to deck work, safety and environmental protection, contributing to the overall success of the vessel's operation.
Responsibilities
➢ Safety & Security
- Serve as a bridge and gangway guard.
- Ensuring safe arrival and departures complained with the ship's safety and environmental protection standards.
- Compliance with the guidelines, instructions (nautical handbook) and regulations.
- Co-responsible for the impeccable cleanliness, hygiene on board.
- Active participation on planning and execution of the safety drills.
- Take responsibility in emergency duties such as BDO (Breathing Device Operator) and all other safety related duties according to internal rules and regulations.
➢ Deck Operations
- Perform in all necessary and assigned work in the deck department, this includes deck maintenance (Sanding & Painting), cleaning duties.
- Executing tasks during arrival and departure and maneuvering of the ship.
- Make sure that all sundeck furniture and other equipment for the passengers are in line with the internal regulations.
➢ Logistical Support
- Assist with Luggage service during embarkation and disembarkation.
- Manage and support in the disposal of Garbage of any kind on land as instructed by the supervisor.
- Support in loading activities off all kind.
➢ Additional duties
- If needed and requested, delivering of support to the technical department on board the stationed vessel such as cleaning works in technical rooms and general support in technical maintenance as required.
- Participation in internal and external trainings and seminars.
- Compliance with all national and international regulations.
Qualification Profile
- Eligibility to work in Switzerland.
- Skilled workers and health Certificate for BDO.
- Valid Sailor booklet signed off in a sailor’s position.
- Minimum of 2 years' working experience on a river passenger ship.
- Good command of English mandatory, French and/or German a plus.
- Interested in further education (e.g. certificate extension, language skills).
