The Macro Economist reports to the Head of Industry Analysis. As part of the Sustainability and Economics Division, you will join a collaborative team dedicated to advancing the financial and environmental sustainability of air transportation. Our team brings together diverse perspectives, strong analytical expertise, and unique industry insights to deliver high-quality research, inform decision-making, and shape thought leadership across the aviation sector. In this role, you will undertake economic research and analysis with a focus on macro-economic developments and their impact on the airline industry. You will also contribute to broader economic analyses across the Industry Analysis unit, the S&E Division, and IATA as a whole. You will share insights through presentations, publications, and stakeholder engagement, helping internal and external audiences, including regulators, understand key economic trends and their impact on global civil aviation. Success in this position comes from working collaboratively, valuing different viewpoints, and building strong relationships across teams and regions, in addition to the subject matter expertise
- Deliver economic research and analysis on global, regional, and country-level macro-economic developments and their impact on the airline industry.

Contribute to the coordination of this work across geographies. Specifically, this involves IATA’s 5 regional offices and 33 core country markets.

Contribute to request management, coordinate research efforts, and work to integrate contributions from the regional colleagues in the publications of the division.

Conduct part of the research independently, with responsibilities for specific outputs and publications. Some work will be conducted across team functions, notably more consequential analyses.

Outputs will take the form of reports and publications, managing stakeholders, participate in and speak at internal and external meetings and conferences as appropriate. Inputs involve the compilation and validation of data, in collaboration with colleagues in our Division and across IATA as appropriate.

- Post-graduate degree in Economics, PhD an advantage;

At least 5 years of experience in research and analysis; experience in macro-economic research from the banking sector or similar would be an advantage

Experience in drafting applied analytical publications would be an advantage;

Advanced econometrics and statistical analysis skills;

Effective time management and ability to meet tight deadlines;
