About the Role
We are looking for a Cocoa GCA Pricing & Position Manager to join our team in Zürich. In this role, you will be at the center of Barry Callebaut's global cocoa business, leading the execution of position management, risk exposure monitoring and cocoa pricing for strategic Global Corporate Account (GCA) agreements.
You will combine strong analytical capabilities with commercial acumen to translate complex market movements, position exposures and customer requirements into actionable decisions. Working closely with Trading, Risk Management, Sales, Finance, Operations and regional pricing teams, you will ensure accurate position tracking, effective hedging, robust contract execution and competitive pricing strategies.
As the owner of key position management activities, you will oversee global cocoa exposures, support hedging execution and contribute to risk optimization across regions and systems. At the same time, you will act as a trusted partner to customers and internal stakeholders, helping to develop pricing solutions, manage commercial agreements and support strategic business decisions.
You will gain deep visibility into Barry Callebaut's global cocoa network (from origin sourcing to customer delivery) and develop a strong understanding of global cocoa flows, supply chain dynamics and market interdependencies. Your insights will help strengthen the connection between our Cocoa and Chocolate businesses by providing market intelligence that supports commercial and pricing decisions across the value chain.
Beyond day-to-day execution, you will have the opportunity to contribute to global projects, process improvements and digitalization initiatives that enhance transparency, efficiency and decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities include
- Lead the execution and monitoring of global cocoa positions, ensuring accurate exposure management, position reconciliation and alignment with hedging and risk management strategies.
- Own end-to-end position management activities, including volume consolidation, position calculations, synthetic exposure management, terminal market hedging and internal risk transfers.
- Monitor and analyze market exposures, financial impacts and risk positions, providing actionable insights to Trading, Risk Management and commercial teams.
- Execute cocoa pricing activities for Global Corporate Account agreements, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant contract implementation.
- Act as a central partner for customers and internal stakeholders by aligning on pricing strategies, position impacts and commercial execution requirements.
- Manage contract portfolios across assigned customers, including bookings, amendments, extensions, balance reconciliations, intercompany contracts and terminal market adjustments.
- Support daily hedging activities and ensure all relevant risk components are accurately reflected across systems, contracts and reporting tools.
- Drive market quotations and ad-hoc pricing requests, supporting sales teams with competitive, commercially sound and risk-aligned proposals.
- Develop pricing solutions for new products, customer agreements, certifications, origins and supply flows while ensuring commercial viability and effective risk management.
- Analyze forecasted, contracted and delivered volumes to support forecasting, budgeting, demand planning and commercial decision-making.
- Build strong customer relationships through regular engagement, acting as a key contact for pricing, contract execution and market-related discussions.
- Drive continuous process improvement by enhancing reporting, increasing transparency, strengthening controls and supporting automation initiatives.
- Contribute to global projects related to cost optimization, flow optimization, contingency planning, supply chain efficiency and business performance improvement.
About You
- 5+ years of experience in commodity trading, position management, pricing, sales or risk management.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex market, position and financial data and translate it into meaningful business insights.
- Solid understanding of hedging principles, futures markets and commodity risk management.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance market dynamics, customer needs and business objectives.
- Comfortable working independently while also being a collaborative team player in a global environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Experience building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders across functions and regions.
- Cocoa market expertise, including futures markets, bean origins, cocoa products and pricing mechanisms, is highly valued.
- Good understanding of supply chain and logistics, including Incoterms, contract structures and global cocoa flows.
- Experience with SAP, BW and data analysis tools is an advantage.
