As a Polymer Testing Scientist (m/w/d), you will report directly to our Director of Environmental and Analytical Labs, and you will join our Product Safety Sciences Laboratories CoE based in Vernier.
You will be responsible for testing delivery system samples for physico‑chemical, environmental, and analytical aspects, while developing our testing capabilities on polymers to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
In this exciting role, you will
Lead the scientific execution of polymer testing within the PSS Laboratories CoE to support physico‑chemical, analytical, and environmental fate assessments.
Perform and oversee laboratory work independently or with colleagues, ensuring data quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance (GLP, internal standards).
Plan studies in close collaboration with other laboratory managers and scientists.
Develop, and validate new analytical and environmental testing methods to better understand polymer properties and biodegradability.
Maintain laboratory SOPs for quality and compliance following our priorities and regulatory needs.
Be a scientific expert by providing polymer testing guidance across cross‑functional and R&D teams.
Support problem solving, external studies, and continuous improvement projects.
Build collaborations with external laboratories, CROs, and academic institutions to expand testing capabilities.
Be a key contact for polymer testing across the internal laboratory network.
Support the registration process through coordination with regulatory teams to ensure comprehensive submissions.
You?
Master's degree or PhD in Polymer Testing, Analytical or Environmental Chemistry.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the polymer industry, contract research, or academic laboratories.
Demonstrated expertise in polymer testing and characterization (physico‑chemical, analytical, environmental).
Hands‑on experience with macro‑ or biomolecular polymer analysis and testing methodologies.
Knowledge of biodegradation studies and environmental fate assessment is beneficial.
Experience within a regulated laboratory environment (GLP, ISO) as a Study Director or equivalent role is beneficial.
Contribution to laboratory improvement, method development, validation, and standardization.
Familiarity with synthetic or natural fragrance raw materials is beneficial.
Deep understanding of polymeric materials—structure, properties, and current scientific challenges.
Proficiency in analytical techniques such as LC‑UV/MS, GPC, Py‑GC‑MS, IR, TOC, and TGA.
Experience measuring physico‑chemical properties and biodegradation potential of polymers.
Knowledge of NMR, MALDI‑MS, or similar molecular characterization methods is desirable.
Awareness of global regulatory frameworks for polymer registration.
