pRED Cardiovascular& Metabolism, Immunology (CMI), located in Basel, Switzerland, focuses on the discovery and early development of innovative treatments for specific diseases that affect the lives of millions. In the cardiovascular and metabolism area, we are developing cutting-edge therapies to treat metabolic diseases.
We are currently hiringfour experienced PhD-level Discovery Scientists to join our Cardiovascular& Metabolic Disease Research team :
These opportunities include two in vivo-focused and two in vitro-focused positions, offering the chance to contribute to innovative preclinical research in metabolic diseases. We are looking for candidates with strong expertise in in vitro and/or in vivo pharmacology, a solid industry background, and a proven track record in executing preclinical projects in metabolic diseases and immunology.
The opportunity
In this role, you will design and execute experiments and lead projects to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic candidates.
- Lead research projectsin the area of metabolic diseases (insulin resistance, obesity)from target ideation to entry into clinical development for both small- and large-molecule modalities.
- Drive the positioning and prioritization of novel metabolic and immunological targets, integrating disease biology, translational biomarkers, and therapeutic modality selection to align with Roche’s CVM pipeline.
- Collaboratively design, execute, and interpret complex preclinical in vitro and in vivo experimental studies for the validation and characterization of targets or therapeutic agents
- Direct, execute, and benchmark novel experiments, work together hand in hand with associates, and transfer standardized assays to associates
- Act as a resource in project teams, and demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication

- You possess aPhD degree in Life Sciences; are specialized in Metabolic diseases (insulin resistance, obesity, muscle-/adipose-physiology)
- You have >5 years of research and project leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- You have demonstrated ability to effectively present scientific data and concepts to colleagues, teams, and management is essential
- Skillfully able to interact effectively with people, both internally and externally
- Vigorous “can do” mentality to succeed in a dynamic and highly collaborative research team
- Depending on your background, this role is embedded in an in vivo–focused or in vitro-focused research team
