Your role.
We are looking for a Powertrain Electrical Engineer who takes responsibility for the electrical components of our electric powertrain and helps define the future product roadmap of our vehicles.
In this role, you are responsible for integrating and validating the key electrical components of our electric drivetrain. This includes traction batteries, inverters, electric motors, DC/DC converters, on-board chargers, HV distribution, contactors and other high-voltage components.
A major part of the role is making sure that we have a clear view of the supplier market and technology trends, and that Flux always has the best technical and commercial component options available for the next generations of vehicles.
You work closely with suppliers to understand their product roadmaps, strengths and risks. You ensure that Flux has a strong technical relationship with key suppliers, that alternative sources are available, and that new components are properly validated before they are introduced into our vehicles.
You also help shape Flux's future product roadmap by identifying which technologies and suppliers we should rely on over the next years.
- Take technical responsibility for the selection, validation and integration of the electrical components of our electric powertrain.
- Define and maintain the component roadmap for the electric powertrain together with the engineering team.
- Monitor supplier and technology roadmaps and ensure that Flux has early visibility of relevant new products, cost reductions, end-of-life risks and next-generation technologies.
- Build and maintain strong technical relationships with suppliers.
- Coordinate internal and external teams during development, validation and industrialisation activities.
- Identify and qualify second sources for critical components.
- Continuously benchmark the market and identify the best technical and commercial options for future vehicle generations.
- Plan and coordinate validation activities for new components, including test plans, supplier tests, internal tests and vehicle integration tests.
- Analyse test reports, validation data and field results to assess component performance, robustness and supplier quality.
- Critically challenge supplier claims and ensure that component performance is demonstrated through data and testing.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for issues found during testing or in the field.
- Work closely with software, electrical and mechanical engineering teams to ensure robust integration into the vehicle.
- Support sourcing and product strategy decisions with technical input.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical powertrain systems and high-voltage vehicle components.
- Experience validating or integrating one or more of the following: batteries, inverters, motors, HV distribution, chargers, DC/DC converters or vehicle electrical systems.
- Ability to understand and critically assess technical documentation, test reports, validation data and supplier claims.
- Good understanding of how to compare technologies and make sound technical trade-offs between performance, cost, risk and availability.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple suppliers and technical topics in parallel.
- Interest in following technology trends and helping define the future product direction of the company.
- Experience level is less important than technical understanding, motivation, ownership and the ability to communicate clearly.
At Flux, we develop electric commercial vehicles in small, highly responsible teams. Our vehicles are already operating in the real world – on construction sites, in cities and in the daily operations of our customers.
That means decisions are made close to the product. Engineers take responsibility for their systems throughout the entire development cycle – from concept and supplier selection through testing and field issues.
If you like understanding technology in depth, building strong supplier relationships and making sure that the company always has the best technical solution available, this role is a good fit for you.
About Flux.
Flux Mobility AG was founded in April 2021. Our mission is to develop high-quality light commercial vehicles with innovative, emission-free drivetrain technologies and to electrify specialist vehicles in Winterthur.
Our vehicles are built on a flexible platform concept that enables the direct replacement of diesel vehicles on a one-to-one basis. In doing so, we are helping to drive the sustainable transformation of industrial mobility and enabling companies to realise the full potential of electric mobility.
