About the job
Based at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva within the Finance Department, the Director of Finance is responsible for the supervision of all members of the Finance & Purchasing Department, for defining optimal control objectives, and for implementing and maintaining robust internal control systems covering income, expenditure, assets, and liabilities. The role also oversees the budget and forecast process and leads finance-related interactions with Corporate MOHG Finance and Ownership. The Director of Finance reports directly to the General Manager.
As Director of Finance, you will responsible for the following duties:
- To direct, manage and support the development, implementation, maintenance and administration if all financial operations, controls and accounting procedures, based upon a maximization of internal control techniques consistent with Group corporate management established policy and generally accepted accounting principles, as adapted to the requirements of the hotel’s management contract and other local legal requirements
- To play an active role in the management of the hotel and to exercise a responsive attitude to the needs of the General Manager and other members of the hotel management team.
- To ensure compliance to terms and conditions of the hotel’s management contract, with specific regard to provisions relating to the company’s responsibilities as the managers and bringing any discrepancies to the immediate attention of the General Manager and group corporate management.
- To actively involved in the search for opportunities to improve the profitability of the hotel and encourage the preparation of exception reports and analyses to help meet and measure the success of this objective.
- To manage, supervise and support all subordinate employees, with a view to optimizing the profitability of the hotel and improving the guest experience.
- To initiate employee development and evaluation programs for all subordinate staff to ensure the highest level of professional competence and efficient continuity within those positions.
- To organize an efficient treasury function to provide proper management of the hotel’s working capital and cash flow in accordance with Group corporate management minimum guidelines and within the requirements of the hotel’s management contract. Also, to ensure excessive investment is not made in receivables or inventories and that sufficient liquidity is maintained to meet the hotel’s obligations
- MOHG Code of Conduct requires that all business activities and business decisions comply with the general law, and with all rules, regulations and other requirements.
- To cooperate and support the General Manager and the People & Culture department on strategic matters.
- To support learning and development activities of the finance and purchasing team.
- To support and adhere to all policies & procedures relating to Safe, Sound and Sustainable at Mandarin Oriental.
- To act as a hotel ambassador at all times.
- To carry out any additional duties requested by management, related to hotel finance operational activities
As Director of Finance, we expect from you:

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10 years of comparable experience
- Extensive on property hotel finance experience is required
- Prolific in all Windows Based Software Application
- Strong Level of Proficiency in Excel
- Prioritization skills necessary to meet deadlines
- Effective management, leadership, organizational and communications skills
- Excellent communication skills both written/verbal; fluency in French and English is required
- Swiss or European citizenship, structured working experience in Europe, general fiscal principles knowledge.
