The Bachem Group is investing in a new planned site in Sisslerfeld in Northwestern Switzerland. This step is part of the long-term strategy to expand production capacity by the end of the decade. The new production site will play a central role in achieving these goals. The design phase of the project offers you unique opportunities to shape the future organization.
To drive our continuous organic growth, we are constantly looking for highly qualified professionals. To strengthen our team in Global IT, we are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking IT/OT Network & Infrastructure Engineer (a), 80 – 100%.
The IT/OT Network & Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, governing, and operationalizing enterprise and industrial network infrastructure across IT and OT environments while directly supporting Bachem’s digital strategy (i.e. digital manufacturing, pharma 4.0 concepts), with a strong focus on project delivery (new planned Sisslerfeld site) and long-term operational ownership.
The role acts as the key interface between Global IT, site teams, and project stakeholders, ensuring that all network and hosting components are aligned with corporate standards, security policies, and GxP regulations, while guaranteeing infrastructure readiness for project execution and sustainable operations.
In addition to architecture and delivery responsibilities, the role transitions into the on-site owner for IT run services, ensuring stable operations, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement after project completion.
Your tasks:
- Define, design, and govern network architectures within the BSF site project, aligned with global IT/OT network architectures across enterprise and industrial environments.
- Design and implement segmented IT/OT architectures (zones, DMZs, VLANs, secure data flows) and support industrial environments including SCADA, PLC, DCS, MES, and shop-floor systems.
- Act as primary infrastructure lead during project BSF, coordinating network and hosting activities between site management, project teams and Global IT while ensuring infrastructure readiness (network, connectivity, hosting, security) to support all project milestones and commissioning activities.
- Drive alignment between project design and corporate standards, including architecture reviews and approvals. Support site deployment activities including assessments, design validation, cutovers, testing, and go-live.
- Coordinate integration of network and hosting platforms (on-prem, hybrid, cloud) into end-to-end infrastructure solutions & ensure systems are designed for high availability, security, scalability, and operational sustainability.
- Govern and coordinate external service providers, system integrators, and network vendors. Review designs, proposals, and delivery quality of suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with GxP, data integrity, and cybersecurity standards (e.g., IEC 62443, ISO 27001) and support audits, risk assessments, and regulatory inspections.
- Maintain architecture documentation, standards, and validation-relevant deliverables.
- Transition into on-site owner for IT run services after project go-live by defining and establishing support models, runbooks, monitoring, escalation paths, and service KPIs.
- Drive network standardization, modernization, and lifecycle management.
Your profile:
- Extensive experience in network architecture and infrastructure design in enterprise and industrial GxP environments with strong hands-on expertise in LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, and network security.
- Proven experience in IT/OT integration and segmentation concepts with experience in large-scale project delivery and infrastructure coordination.
- Ability to translate architecture into practical, operationally sustainable solutions.
- Deep understanding of GxP-regulated environments and compliance requirements.
- Strong knowledge of IT service management, incident/problem management, and operations governance.
- Strong coordination and communication skills across global teams and project stakeholders combined with technical authority and deescalation competence.
- Comfortable operating across design, delivery, and run phases.
- Fluent in English; German language skills are highly desirable
- Experience in regulated industries is a plus
