The Student Technology & Engineering Program Switzerland (STEPS) at GE Vernova offers engineering students an immersive internship focused on professional development and real-world industrial exposure. Interns within the Services Systems Engineering team will work at the intersection of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and systems engineering to help manage and optimize GE Vernova's global gas turbine fleet. The core objective is to design, develop, and test AI-driven workflows that improve the safety, reliability, and performance of fleet operations. Participants will collaborate with subject matter experts to integrate complex data sets, standardize new processes, and create innovative applications for fleet monitoring and risk management. Beyond these technical contributions, the program provides networking opportunities, technical training, and facility site visits to support interns in building a strong foundation for a future career in the energy sector.

Problem Statement
As an intern within the Services Systems Engineering Team, part of the Gas Power Customer Service Engineering organization, you will work on technically challenging topics at the intersection of engineering systems, data analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI).
You will join the Fleet Solutions team, which is responsible for managing and optimizing a large and diverse global gas turbine fleet. Your focus will be on supporting and developing AI‑based applications and workflows that improve fleet management processes and you will contribute to identifying, shaping, and delivering optimized systems solutions that enhance the safety, reliability, flexibility, and performance of GE Vernova’s installed gas turbine fleet.
You will be encouraged to work independently on defined topics while being closely supported by experienced engineers and subject matter experts.
Deliverable(s)
During this internship, you will:
- Gain in‑depth understanding of GE Vernova’s installed gas turbine fleet, including the processes used to manage it and the data collected on fleet configuration, operation, maintenance, events, and engineering tasks
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of fleet management processes, supporting the goal of operating a best‑in‑class global fleet
- Design, develop, and test AI‑based applications, agents, and workflows using existing data sources and AI tools
- Integrate data from multiple sources to enable improved visibility of fleet status, risks, and opportunities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify and prioritize AI use cases; implement AI‑supported solutions and validate them against existing processes, data, and experience; standardize and document new solutions, support user training and adoption.
Example applications may include:
- Consolidated fleet configuration and risk overviews combining hardware, product features, operating profiles, and inspection data
- AI‑assisted analysis of reliability issues, and identified risks
- Process improvements covering data collection, processing, visualization, analysis, and documentation, to support fleet monitoring and decision‑making
