Your role and responsibilities
The mission of this team is to bring modern and disruptive power electronic solutions from research into product development. We improve our products by holistic optimization, pushing forward novel converter topologies as well as optimizing key components. By joining us, you will participate in idea generation at the frontier of academic research and industrial applications, as well as in the development of advanced technologies for ABB’s products.

The main responsibilities include

Develop low- to medium-frequency, high-power magnetic components with medium-voltage insulation for emerging power electronics applications.

Generate innovative concepts at the intersection of power electronics and magnetics.

Plan, set up, and execute experimental characterization, including model validation of magnetic components.

Contribute your expertise to research projects and translate results into patent applications, scientific publications, and technical reports.

Build and maintain a professional network within the organization, actively sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration.
- Ph.D. in electrical engineering, power electronics, physics, or a related field.

Excellent scientific publication record in high-impact journals and leading power electronics conferences.

Expertise in designing medium-frequency transformers with medium-voltage insulation.

Experience with magnetic core materials and winding technologies (e.g., Litz wire, foil) across low to high frequency ranges.

Strong modeling capabilities for magnetic components, including electromagnetic simulations and thermal management.

Proven hands-on laboratory experience in testing and characterization, with a solid foundation in power electronics and fluency in English (written and spoken).
