As part of the Portfolio, Strategy, and Insights (PSI) team within GPS, you will serve as a strategic thought partner and trusted advisor, guiding Roche’s product, disease area, pharma, and corporate strategy. The PSI team, composed of Advanced Analytics for Business Insights (AABI), Competitive Intelligence, Ecosystem Insights (EI), Partnering Commercial Assessment Leads, and Pharma Portfolio& Strategy, delivers consistent, targeted, and technology-enabled insights that drive quality decision-making across the enterprise, providing unbiased, expertly curated intelligence to inform lifecycle management, commercialization excellence, and portfolio strategies.
The Global Ecosystem Insights (EI) team is looking for a Beyond Therapeutic Area (TA) Portfolio Insights Leader to join us in shaping Roche's Pharma strategy through market, portfolio and customer-centric insights. This role functions as an internal consultant and strategist, partnering with commercial and cross-functional leaders to generate insights that span Therapeutic Areas and shape cross-portfolio decisions.
The Opportunity
The Beyond TA Portfolio Insights Leader is responsible for analyzing the Global Pharma portfolio to evaluate commercial attributes, identify risks/opportunities, anticipate impact of landscape shifts and shape strategic decisions. You will partner extensively within EI and other PSI teams to develop insights and realize the full value of recommendations generated. You will navigate a complex global matrix to align cross-functional partners around high-impact, insight-driven deliverables. You will report to the EI Beyond TA Enabling Leader.
Focus areas and responsibilities
- Strategic modeling& analytics: Develop sophisticated analytical frameworks and models used to evaluate the global portfolio and inform long-term planning. You will provide a quantitative commercial foundation for commercialization and R strategic decisions, ensuring recommendations are rooted in robust data and contextualized for business impact
- Market trend synthesis: Evaluate diverse data sources to identify emerging trends and shifts in the healthcare landscape. You will lead the development of cohesive "outside-in" perspectives on our internal portfolio that inform how we navigate an evolving competitive environment
- Performance evaluation and risk mitigation: Assess cross-portfolio performance to identify high-potential growth drivers and critical trade-offs. You will highlight potential gaps in the collective strategy and recommend interventions to strengthen our portfolio position
- Decision Support: Act as a specialist consultant for strategy projects, translating complex portfolio analytics into concise, high-impact recommendations. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, turning technical complexity into clear, actionable business strategies
- Unified portfolio narrative: Integrate individual Therapeutic Area insights into a single, cohesive "Beyond TA" commercial narrative. You will provide a holistic view of the portfolio’s collective commercial strength and strategic direction
Who you are
- Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) and a minimum of 10 years (or equivalent with advanced education) of Pharma/Biotech portfolio analytics and strategy experience required; top-tier consulting experience is a strong plus
- Portfolio Insights Expert: Must possess extensive experience applying analyses and modeling/forecasting to solve portfolio business problems; comprehensive knowledge of the Pharma/Biotech value chain and demonstrated ability to analyze emerging industry trends to shape portfolio planning required
- Strategic problem solver: A critical thinker capable of navigating TA, portfolio, and enterprise level complexities. Ability to translate research and analysis into concise, compelling business recommendations. Proven ability to connect disparate data points from across the enterprise to form a cohesive strategic narrative
- Influential collaborator: Adept at shaping commercialization strategies by influencing senior stakeholders without authority; expert at bridging various functional and geographic groups to build strong partnerships
- Innovation driver: Experienced in developing, generating buy-in and piloting innovative solutions or novel tools and systems; ability to generate new ideas/approaches that address business needs and drive creation / adoption of best practices
- Change champion: Comfortable translating high-level intent into actionable roadmaps and leading initiatives confidently through uncertainty and resistance
- Impact scaler: A track record of transformation impact through initiatives at the department/functional level, and/or broader organizational level
