Based in our Zurich office, this is an individual contributor role focused on delivering high-quality language services and driving excellence in translation technologies.
These are your key tasks:
- Deliver high-quality proofreading, translation, transcription and subtitling within agreed deadlines,
- Clarify linguistic and content-related queries with stakeholders and ensure transparent communication with the Project Management & Technology Unit and Team Lead,
- Manage and develop terminology resources to ensure consistency across all materials,
- Provide linguistic guidance and advisory support to assigned departments,
- Lead internal linguistic projects and contribute to continuous process improvement,
- Escalate risks or deadline challenges proactively and propose solutions.
AI & Technology Integration
- Evaluate, implement and optimise AI-assisted translation, terminology and quality-control tools,
- Perform high-level post-editing of AI-generated content to ensure alignment with FIFA quality standards,
- Identify workflow automation opportunities and recommend efficiency enhancements,
- Monitor AI tool performance, provide structured feedback and support system optimisation,
- Contribute to internal guidelines and best practices for responsible and effective AI use.
Tools & Systems
- Advanced user of translation and subtitling tools (e.g. Trados, Ooona/Aegisub) and Microsoft applications,
- Strong understanding of translation technologies and digital workflow solutions.

The specific competencies we require for this position are:
- Native-level proficiency in Spanish (Spain). Please note that this role requires translation into European Spanish Applications from professionals whose primary translation variant is Latin American Spanish will not be considered.
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar translation or localisation role, ideally within multilingual, fast-paced environments where AI-assisted tools and automation form part of the daily workflow.
- Up to date with the newest translation technologies, including neural machine translation (NMT), AI-assisted CAT tools, adaptive MT engines, terminology extraction tools, quality-estimation models, and collaborative translation platforms. Ability to evaluate MT output critically and apply efficient post-editing strategies.
- Experience in the sports industry, preferably football, is a strong advantage; ability to translate with contextual accuracy and sensitivity to the culture, terminology and emotional tone of the game.
- Academic degree in Translation or equivalent, with formal training in EN>ES and ideally a second combination (FR>ES, DE>ES or AR>ES). Demonstrated understanding of linguistic quality frameworks, terminology management and controlled-language principles.
- Demonstrated football knowledge and genuine interest in the sport to ensure nuanced, credible translations aligned with fan expectations and industry standards.
- Experience in the sports industry is an advantage.
